Only 4 major events that we can all agree should have never happened, World War 1, World War 2, the Holocaust, and Stalin's purges, are responsible for up to 215 million of those deaths by government. Take those out of the picture and suddenly your argument loses a lot of it's power.
Do you honestly think that your survival of the fittest, every man for himself would be better? People formed governments specifically to get away from that. There must be something about the rule of law that makes it better, otherwise it would have never caught on in the first place.
It's not perfect, nothing ever is. But it must be better than your alternative, or ancient Athens' fledgling democracy would never have gotten off the ground.
