Right, what you see here is the result of my little experiement on a message board, often stopping the story and asking the next poster to decide what the protagonist does next which is why it addresses the reader as such and the protagonist is nameless.

Warning: This story contains cat girls, lots of lots of catgirls.  So many, I'd suggest using discretion if you happen to be allergic!

***********************

It was over 300 years ago. A young boy fled through the woods as something gave chase. He dared not look back for he knew what it was and he knew well what it wanted from him. All he could do was pray he could lose it but when he fell to the ground having caught his foot in a raised tree root, he knew it was over. He looked up as the shadowy form approached him with a devilish grin. Just when it was almost upon him though, the creature was ensnared in a thick net as dozens of villagers surrounded it with tools ready to strike should it struggle.

..........................

The town mayor spoke to the town as a locked casket was carried to his side.

"For years we have feared this creature as she preyed upon us. She has stolen our brothers and sisters in hopes of reviving her wicked and sinful race, but we in our righteousness have prevailed," he said as everyone looked at the casket with disgust.

"My sons...she took my sons!" a grieving woman shouted.

"Here in the old catacombs she shall be buried and the entrance will be sealed to form her prison which must never be disturbed!"

"Rrrrrr..." came an eerie voice from the casket as everyone reared back in fear, "Mayorrr...you think yourrr kind has seen the last of me...but I prrromise that one day one of your own rrrace will come and rrrelease me...and then the worrrld shall belong to us!!"

The casket thrashed as whatever was inside thrashed excitedly.

"I banish you to eternal darkness!" the mayor said as she was carried into the catacombs. Once secure inside, explosives were laid and the entire structure was collapsed.

Years passed, centuries passed and in time, whatever horrors were buried there were forgotten...until now...

.............................

You emerged from the movie theater with your friends at your sides. To your left was Lise, a girl you've always liked but she's typically seen you as a friend. She had helped you in your school work many a time and you'd always been there for her too. To your right was Mark whom you've been friends with since grade 1. Mark always meant well but his curiosity and adventurous nature had gotten him into trouble a lot but you were always there to get him out of trouble again. He had often helped you overcome your limits with his "try again" attitude.

"That was a neat movie. What did you think?" Mark asked Lise across from you.

"Eh...zombie movies are getting a little overdone. They're all the same," Lise said shaking her head.

"Maybe...can you imagine if something like that actually happened? Think we'd survive?" Mark asked.

"Who knows, we'd definitely have to stick together," Lise replied.

"You bet," Mark said nodding.

Walking past a nearby construction site, you thought you heard a voice as you suddenly stop and turn to the dug up site.

"What's up?" Mark asked as he looked in the same direction, "Hey...look at that!"

"What is it?" Lise asked curiously.

"Over there," Mark replied, "I think there's an opening in the wall of the dirt. Looks like they uncovered something. I wonder what's in there."

Mark looked ready to jump down into the site to get a closer look when Lise grabbed him by the arm.

"Hold on, that's private property. We could get in trouble if someone sees us,"

"Aw come on, aren't you curious to see what's up?" Mark asked.

"I guess but it's probably nothing and besides, that passage could collapse on you!"

"A small risk to be the first to discover something!" Mark said dramatically before turning to you, "Well...looks like you have the deciding vote as usual. What do you say? We can at least take a look inside."

Agreeing with Mark that a peek won't do any harm, you nodded and led the way to the opening. Mark got out his pocket light and looked inside.

"Can you hurry up? Someone might see the light..." Lise said worried.

"I think I see something....woah!" Mark began when the loose dirt slid out from beneath him, causing him to slide into the opening.

"Mark! Are you okay?" Lise called out.

"Ow...yeah I'm fine," Mark said as he got up, "hey...check this out."

He shined his flashlight to the other end of the passage where it revealed a simple room where a large platform stood. Upon it lay what looked like a coffin held shut with rusted chains that looked ready to break apart.

"Ugh...it looks like a coffin, you think there's a body inside?" Mark said sounding interested.

"Mark!" Lise called as she slid into the passage, "What are you doing? You shouldn't touch something like this."

"I just wanted to take a peek. I think these chains have enough slack to just open it a little..." Mark said as he examined the coffin.

Suggesting it's best not to disturb anything, you offered to take pictures instead of mess around with the setup.

"I guess, we wouldn't want to damage anything," Mark said as he stepped aside for you to get a few shots of the room.

"Okay, can we go now?" Lise asked looking nervous.

"We just need one of the inside," Mark said eagerly.

The chains were slack enough to slide the lid off just enough to reach the cell phone in and get a shot so you carefully did so until you could get a hand in and snap the picture.

"Nice, let's see now," Mark said as he handed off the flashlight to look over your shoulder as the picture came into view.

"What is it?" Lise asked trying to see as well.

"I don't know..." Mark said, "Can you bring the flashlight a little closer Lise. It's hard to see the screen."

"I...don't have the flashlight..." Lise said hesitantly.

"What? But if you don't then..." Mark looked around seeing you weren't holding it either.

The three of you turned around to see the flashlight held by a shadowy figure behind you. It teasingly waved the flashlight around before raising it to it's face, causing it's narrow eyes to flash in the dark, causing the three to jump startled.

Surprised, you instinctively leaped at the figure to knock it down. The figure made no attempt to defend itself as you leaped right through it. Landing flat on your face in surprise, you turned to see the shadow gone with only an odd warm feeling left in it's wake.

"What was that?" Lise asked as Mark helped you up.

"I don't know but let's get out of here before it comes back," Mark said as the three of you ran from the site and straight home. All any of you wanted was to leave that strange incident behind.

...........................

The next morning, your alarm sounded off like always but you awake to find yourself sweating. That warm feeling now feels like a full fever. A knock on your door distracts you as you hear your mother.

"Dear, it's time to get up for school."

Deciding you're probably just worked up over what happened last night, you got out of bed and headed for the shower. Just to set your mind at ease, you looked at yourself in the mirror. Everyone looked okay...wait...your nails looked like they could use a trim. Wow...you could have cut someone with them. How did they get so long?

Shrugging it off, you headed into the shower and let the warm water soothe that tension. It certainly ded the job as you found yourself drifting off for a moment before a knock at the door snaped you out of it.

"Dear? Are you okay?" your mom said, "You were making that strange purring sound."

Purring? Trying desperately to put all these strange ideas out of your head, you just continued with your daily routine and headed out the door.

As always, Mark and Lise were waiting for you at the end of the driveway.

"Ah there you are," Mark said, "Feeling okay? You looked a little out of it after...you know..."

"I knew it was a bad idea," Lise commented.

"Yes...yes you did...let's just get to school and not worry about it anymore. Nobody got hurt at least," Mark said as the three of you headed off.

"Hey..." Lise said as you walked down the street, "You really should cut those. They're looking almost like claws."

She indicated towards your nails. But...you did cut them just a minute ago...didn't you?

Before you could dwell on it any further but who should show up but Lance and Steve, two people you'd live a happy life if you never saw again. Lance was your typical arrogant captain of the football team, built like a bull with half the brains and twice the attitude. Steve, you could call him Lance's Yes-man. He wasn't built near as much like him but he still could be intimidating, at least as long as he was with Lance.

"Hey Lise!" Lance called out as they approached, "Given any thought to that date we talked about?"

"And my answer is the same," Lise said annoyed.

"You mean the one where you'd rather take a peanut butter bath and play with the pit bulls?" Steve asked curiously before being silenced by a harsh glare from Lance.

Mark laughed at the analogy before Lance turned to him.

"What's so funny?!" Lanced asked angered at being mocked.

Losing patience for their treatment of your friend, you stepped up and demanded that Lance leave Lise alone.

"You too now? You and Mark better get out of my sight and let us talk in peace right now if you know what's good for you," Lance said annoyed.

You stood firm and refused.

"That's it, I think someone needs some sense slapped into him!" Lance said as he approached you.

"No!" Lise said frightened.

Lance wound up his fist and threw a punch but before either of you knew what happened, you had sidestepped it out of sheer reflex, surprising even yourself. In the same swift movement, you struck back at Lance, leaving cuts across his arm from your long fingernails.

"Augh! What the...you're gonna regret...oooorrrgh..." Lance trailed off as he began to look woozy.

"Run!" Mark said taking advantage of the distraction as the three of you fled to school, leaving Lance and Steve behind.

.........................

Sitting in class, you all breath a sigh of relief.

"That was close, where did that come from? You never had to guts to stand up to him before," Mark said.

"Well, best not push your luck. You know he's not going to let this go," Lise advised as the teacher entered and began class.

Class went on, the same old boring lectures. You usually could pay reasonable attention but this time, you just felt like nodding off. At least until the teacher's indignant "ahem!" woke up back up.

"Bad enough sleeping in class but purring while you're at it?" the teacher said as everyone snickered. You sunk into your seat embarrassed.

With that, he continued on as you tried to stay awake and avoid any further incident. Just then, that same fever began to flare up again. You tried to not let it get to you until a sharp tug in your mouth nearly made you fall flat onto your desk.

"Are you all right?" the teacher asked, "You look a little red. Are you not feeling well?"

You barely hear him as your tongue finds itself traveling around your mouth. Your teeth feel different...you almost swear your fangs are now longer than the rest of your teeth. What's going on?

"If you need some air, go ahead and step outside for a minute if you need to," the teacher said, now sounding concerned.

Not wasting any time, you retreated from the classroom to the relative safety of the bathroom to try and make sense of everything. Grinning in the mirror, you indeed saw elongated fangs, not long enough to jut out from your mouth but noticeable if you were to smile or talk. Your nails weren't merely long now, they had taken on a sharp point and hardened just like real claws. Feeling the rest of yourself over, everything else seemed to be normal. But what are you going to do with sharp teeth and claws now?

Just then came the voice of Mark.

"Hey, you in there buddy? You ran out of the class so suddenly, Lise and I were worried about you? Is everything all right?"

Lise and Mark...they're good friends...but should you let them in on this?

You think for a moment. Mark would probably think this was cool but you really don't need that right now. You need someone level headed who can help you figure things out. You ask Lise to come in.

"Are you okay? You've been acting strange," Lise said as she walked in.

You told her to prepare herself as you turned and showed her your new fangs.

"Ah!" she yelped before looking angry, "Hey! That's not funny! Take those things out!"

You shook your head and flicked them with your clawed finger, indicating they are very much real.

"Oh my...what's happened to you?" Lise said now realizing it's no prank.

"What's going on in there? Everything okay?" Mark asked from outside.

"It's fine...just make sure nobody comes in," Lise asked.

"All right..." Mark said sounding a little annoyed at being kept in the dark.

"Okay, this isn't a good place to look into this," Lise said thinking, "I have a pair of gloves you can wear and you'll just have to keep your mouth closed until we can find somewhere to go. Can you think of anything?

Nodding in agreement, Lise handed you the gloves to cover up your hands as she walked you out of the bathroom.

"Hey, everything okay?" Mark asked.

"He's not feeling well, I'm gonna take him home. Tell the teacher won't you?" Lise asked Mark.

"Oh, sure thing. Get better buddy!" Mark replied as he headed back into class.

"Phew, looks like nobody's noticed anything. Let's go!" Lise said as you walked down the street to her house which wasn't far from your own.

"Hello? Anyone home?" Lise said poking her head into her house, "Good, everyone's gone."

She led you into the living room to try and get comfortable.

"So, so far is it just the claws and teeth?" she asked.

You told her about unintentionally making purring sounds.

"This is really strange...I just know it has something to do with that site we looked at yesterday. Maybe we could learn something at the library!" she said until she was interrupted by the door bell.

"Who could that be?" she wonders as she slowly went to answer it. There stood Steve in the door looking agitated.

"Steve? What do you want?" Lise said ready to slam the door in his face.

"No wait! You gotta help me! It's Lance, something's wrong with him!" Steve stammers.

"What's wrong?" Lise says, now a little more concerned.

"After he got scratched, we went down to our usual hangout to cool off. He started looking sick but when I asked him what was wrong, he freaked out and swung at me. Just cut my cheek a little but I was scared so I ran to find help. I saw you guys go in here and thought...you know... Come on! Be a pal! I'm sorry about before!"

"We were going to head to the library to...anyway...do you mind just seeing if Lance is okay? I mean none of us like him but if he's sick..."

Somewhat reluctantly, you agreed to go help Steve out. He led you to a video arcade near the school that the class cutters always loved to retreat to.

"Lance? You here?" Steve called out only to receive no answer, "I guess he's in the back."

Coming into the rear of the arcade, Steve noticed someone sitting at the bench in the corner.

"Lance? Is that you?" he called out.

The figure slowly looked up at him.

"It's me, your friend Steve. I brought them along cause...well I was worried about you," Steve said.

The figure stands up and walks into the light, revealing itself to in fact be female.

"Oh...I'm sorry, I thought you were..." Steve trailed off as he noticed the figure is mostly human but some traits revealed it to be something else entirely. It had pointed, furry ears like a cat and tail to match. It's slit eyes and small fangs completed the look as it began to emit an eerie purring noise.

"What the..." Steve said as the creature approached.

"Steve, get away...something's not right about her..." Lise said as she pulled him back and closed the door on the creature, locking it in.

"What was that?" Steve pondered as he turns to you, "Hey...what are you wearing those for?"

"What?" Lise said as she turned to you, "Oh no!"

You covered your head as Lise yelped, the noise echoing in your head at an unusually intense volume. As you did, you felt something amiss. The ears at the side of your head were missing. You hesitantly felt upwards and found them relocated at the top of your head and pointed upwards.

"It is getting worse!" Lise said worried.

"Mmph," Steve muttered trying to restrain himself.

"What's going on?" Lise asked.

"Bwa ha ha! You look hilarious!" Steve said bursting out laughing.

"It's not funny Steve! This is serious!" Lise scolded.

"Heh heh...then why ammmmeeow...wha..." he trailed off as his speech slurred into a meowing sound, "Was that me?"

Lise nodded as she could only watch in shock at what happened next.

"Ugh...feel dizzy...ugh...that scratch is starting to sting..." Steve said as he clutched his head. He groaned as cat ears sprouted from his head. His clothing began to loosen in some parts and tighten in others as his masculine form grew smaller in stature only to have his hips and breasts swell out to a well endowed female shape.

"What's happening...call a doctor...call anybody!" he called out as a long furry tail burst out from the seat of his pants to complete the look.

"Steve! Are you..."

"Sssoooo...hard...to concentrate..." Steve trailed off as his face lost it's fearful expression, replacing it with one of innocent bliss.

"Purrrrrrrrrrr..." he began to say as he looked at you at Lise.

"Whatever you have, it seems to be contagious!" Lise said looking at you a little nervously, "But why is it affecting you so slowly?"

Just then, more purring sounds began to come from all around as more transformed catgirls appeared from various corners of the arcade. It seems they were sleeping before but the disturbance now caught their attention. They looked at you both with cheery, blissful expressions that only made the situation more unnerving. As they closed in, you quickly took Lise by the arm and ran with her outside the arcade, shoving a nearby broom into the door handle to hold it shut and deter pursuit.

"Nice work, that should hold them..." Lise said until the sight of a window on the upper floor breaking and catgirls leaping out and bounding along buildings proved that wrong.

"No! They're going to spread it all over town! We have to do something!" Lise said now starting to lose her sensible composure.

Getting an idea, you gestured for Lise to follow you as you run to a local pet shop.

"What are we doing here?" Lise asked confused as you quickly ran into the door and headed straight for the cat section.

"Oh...I see," Lise said as you began gathering up plastic containers of catnip.

"Hey! Are you gonna pay for all that?" the store clerk said looking over at you.

"This is an emergency, you better lock yourself in your office if you know what's good for you," Lise advised.

"What? If you think I'm gonna just...wha?" the clerk was interrupted as a catgirl tackled him from behind.

"Oh no, hurry up!" Lise said as you quickly got the containers open and scattered the herb all over the store, propping the doors open so as to let the smell out into the streets.

Grabbing a few toy balls and such and keeping some of the catnip on hand just in case, you and Lise quickly left the building as several dozen entranced catgirls came running for the scent. You found your mind getting foggy from the smell yourself but quickly shook it off. This was no time to space out.

"There, that will hold them for a while...oh no!" Lise called out as she looked at you.

Just when you were about to ask what was wrong, you looked down to see your once short hair snaking it's way down your front and back until it hung down to your waist. There was no time to lose!

"Well, let's get to that library and hopefully find something that can help us," Lise said as she started to walk off but you only stood there.

"What are you waiting for? We don't have much time," Lise said turning around.

After seeing what you're capable of, you now had grown uneasy. What if you lost your mind as well and turned on her? You couldn't bear the thought so you made a decision. You tell Lise you'd be better off kept restrained somewhere where the catgirls would be unlikely to venture.

"What? We can't split up! We might never..."

You shook your head, your mind was made up.

"...Okay... that old lighthouse at the beach should work. Cats don't like water don't they? But I promise you, I AM coming back for you! I won't let you become one of them!" Lise said as she clutched your hands, being careful not to prick herself on your claws.

You nodded reassuringly as you went your separate ways. Would you see each other again? You could only wonder as you made your way to the beach. Sunbathers were all over but you managed to sneak around to avoid being noticed. You felt a little aprehensive about swimming your way to the small island where the lighthouse stood but your still human mind managed to keep that in check as you made your way. Arriving at the shore, you wrung out your clothes and now long hair before entering. It was a wreck inside but still stable. You sat down on a ragged old chair trying to think. What were you going to do? What if Lise couldn't find a clue to help stop all this? Where would it end? Would this whole town have to be destroyed to stop it? Would all of humanity be doomed?

Your pondering was cut short by a churning feeling in your body along with that same fever as before. You froze in shock. Was this it? Was this the last transformation that would rob you of who you were forever? You cringed at the thought and as the throbbing inside you intensified. First you felt your very pelvis bone begin to shift and take on a new shape just before the flesh followed suit. Reaching back, you could feel your hips widen and reshape into a more soft and round form. Just when it felt like it was subsiding, a sharp tear advertised the arrival of your new tail. The bubbling inside then began to work it's way upwards into your chest. Somewhat more ready but still just as shocked, you felt your chest as it began to swell. As the soft flesh quickly filled your hands, your focus was instead on your own mind. Were you about to lose it? Was your next conscious thought to be your last? As the throbbing spread out through your body, washing over the rest of it, you blacked out as the sensations overwhelmed your senses...

You cracked an eye open, everything still too blurry to see. You were conscious which was a good sign. Did you dare hope that everything was a dream and you were about to head off to school for real now? As you looked around at the run down room, you saw that hope quickly dashed. But what about you? You quickly looked around for a reflective surface until you saw the stainless steel panel on a nearby cupboard. Wiping it clear with your sleeve, you prepared yourself and looked.

There stood what could have been your twin sister if she had cat ears, tail, claws and fangs. As the sensations before had already told you, you now sported female breasts and hips along with the softened face and figure that goes with it. Looking closer, even your eyes now sported slit pupils like a cat. But you were still yourself inside. The transformation hadn't turned you into a euphoric drone like the others. Could you still talk? You experimented for a moment. At first surprised by the higher pitched voice that came out, you found you still could talk at least even though your speech came out slurred by meows and the rolling of your R's.

You could hardly believe any of this but you knew it was all real.

As you felt yourself, you noticed your cellphone still in your pocket. You had been so distracted that you forgot all about it! Maybe you could call for help! Thinking quickly, you dialed the local center for disease control. But what would you say to them so that they didn't think it was a prank? Would they even be able to help then?

The phone was picked up only to have the sound of purring on the other end serve only to alarm you further. It wasn't contained anymore and now they were all running loose. It all started with you to boot...

Just when hopelessness was about to set in, you noticed an unread message on the phone. It must have come in while you were out cold. Maybe it was Lise. Eagerly, you pushed replay...

"Hello?" came Mark's voice, "Are you there? Anybody? Oh man...something crazy's happening down here at the school. I managed to lock myself in the boiler room but there's no way out. If you get this, you gotta get help!"

Mark, you had completely forgotten about him...just then, the phone rang, this time the sender was Lise's number.

"Come to the library quick. I think I found something. We're safe in here but we can't get out."

Since Lise claimed to be reasonable safe at the time, you decided it would be best to try and help Mark out first but you made sure to send her a message informing her of this. Taking a moment to get used to your slightly lower center of gravity, you head outside and face having to swim back with your nervousness at the prospect now greater than before. Trying not to think about it and just focus on helping your friends, you dipped your feet in the water for a moment before managing to shake off the tension. Wasting no more time, you made your way back to shore to find the beach now populated by catgirls who were still soaking up sunlight as before.

Getting your bearings, you immedietly ran for the school and you could only hope you weren't already too late. Spurred by the prospect, you suddenly found yourself dropping to all fours and running with your hands and feet at once as though you had done it all your life. Since it did help you move faster, you didn't let it bother you.

You promptly arrived at the school to find it inhabited by cat girls all around. Fortunately, while they took notice of you, they seemed to see you as one of their own now and thus made no attempt to impede you.

You quickly made your way down to the boiler room and you were at least reassured to find the door still closed and locked. Looking around to ensure no cat girls waiting for an opportunity to strike at Mark were around, you knocked on the door.

"Wh...who's there?" came Mark's voice.

Relieved, you call out to him but your feline manner of speech only seems to spook him.

Knowing your friend's weaknesses, you told him that if he opens the door, you'd let him feel your new assets.

"R-really?" Mark said curiously as he peeked outside the door.

You told him to look closely at you and see who you really are.

"They did get you," Mark said surprised, "But...you can still talk?"

You nodded though you were unable to offer an explanation as to why. You tell him about Lise and that you need to get to the library right away.

"Okay, let's get out of here," Mark agreed.

But now that Mark was with you, the catgirls on the school grounds had now taken an interest in your presence. They quickly began to surround the exits, forcing you to go upstairs to escape.

"Oh great...I shoulda stayed in there..."

You tell him to just trust you as you come to the roof only to look around and see cat girls all around the building.

"Ack, I knew it! We're trapped, we're goners!" Mark said panicking, "Can I...can I just have that feel now before they catch me and give me my own..."

Annoyed at his thoughts being there at a time like this, you look around to see the surrounding buildings and get an idea. Without a word, you take Mark into your arms and dash for the nearest building. As Mark can only look on expecting to fall any second, you make a great leap to the next building, clearing it with strange ease.

"Wha...since when could you jump like this?" Mark said surprised.

Smiling, you continue to leap from building to building so as to avoid most of the catgirls down on the ground. Mark's weight seemed to hinder you little so even despite your slight loss of height, you're stronger as well as being faster and more agile. If it weren't for being female and contagious, this wouldn't be so bad.

Finally, the library came into sight. It looked to be still securely locked up with cat girls all around it, apparantly well aware there were still people inside who hadn't joined their ranks yet.
"You're one of them! Forget it! You're not gonna get me!"

You needed to get in but you need a distraction if you were going to get Mark past them intact. You instructed him to stay and wait for you to return.

Spotting a nearby animal shelter, you got an idea to provide the diversion needed. Slipping inside, Mark could only watch as an alarm went off followed by dozens of dogs of all kinds running out from the building. The catgirls near the library hissed at them before backing away and fleeing.

"Wow, nice thinking!" Mark said as you both made your way for the library. Knocking on the door, the librarian looked at the window only to recoil when he saw you. Fortunatly, Lise came and quickly calmed him as she came over to unlock the door.

"Mark! Oh I'm so glad you're both okay...you... ARE okay right?" Lise said looking at the new you.

You nodded as she let you in. It seemed several people managed to take shelter in the library but panic was about to settle in when they saw you.

"What are you doing?! You let one of them in here!?"

"It's okay...he's our friend, he's still himself inside," Mark explained.

The panic was averted but you still received nothing but suspicious stares as Lise led you to the computers.

"I did some research on the town's history. As you know, the witch hunts were common place several centuries ago but I found one that may be linked to this.

She brought up a record of an execution. The accused was simply named "The Cat Witch" as nobody knew her real name. She was convicted of witchcraft and buried alive in the catacombs for it. The story said that she turned people into cat like slaves.

"Sound familiar yet?" Lise asked as you and Mark watched with interest.

"Yeah...was it her in that coffin then?" Mark asked.

"It looks like it, that is the same location according to records. I also found something else. The Cat witch's first victim was said to be a young man named Argus Traz. I did some looking around on that name and found that there was a journal under the same name that was found many miles away in an old ruin. It was dismissed as mad ravings when it was found but if this is the same person, it explains a lot."

She brought up the records displaying the last page of the journal.

This may be my last entry...

Exploring the old ruins, my brothers and I thought we had found our first real treasure: It was a gold and jeweled crown that somehow had resisted the decay that claimed everything else here.

Only after I foolishly put the crown on my head as a joke did I realize this was no treasure. I don't know what manner of sorcery this is but my brothers and I began to change... My brothers are lost and now I feel a presence in my mind...it urges me to return to my village and pass this curse on to my people...

I can feel my will slip even now, I cannot resist much longer...

I can only pray some good soul finds this journal in time. If you do, you must find me. You must stop me, kill me if you must. You must destroy this accursed crown before it's too late!

Signing off...Argus Traz

"Man...what have we gotten ourselves into?" Mark said.

Trying to think, you held your hand in your pocket and fiddled with your phone...and that was when it hit you. The picture of the inside of the coffin! You never did look at it!

Taking out the phone, you bring up the picture and it displays an image of a dried out husk of a corpse but hanging loosely on it's head is a gold crown bearing cat's eye opals just above where one's own eyes would be and rubies arranged in the shape of a paw print at the very middle.

"Woah, we had this all along and forgot about it!" Mark said as he looked over your shoulder.

"That must be it, if we go there and destroy it, that should put a stop to all of this!" Lise put in.

In agreement, you all set out at once for the construction site where it all began. There, you found the place swarmed with cat girls in far greater numbers than ever before. Unlike the others though, while some tried to find ways to amuse themselves, they didn't wander. It seemed as though they were waiting for something.

It looked like sneaking your still human friends into the opening was out of the question, it seemed you would have to go alone.

"Man, I don't know...what if..." Mark pondered.

"It looks like it's all up to you then...please, make sure you get it done. We're all counting on you," Lise said as she hugged you tightly.

Swallowing hard, you left your friends to remain hidden as you approached the site. Thankfully, the catgirls again took notice of you but made no attempt to interfere. As you came near the opening, more seemed to look up at you and purr loudly. As you entered the opening, you heard them meow excitedly outside.

As you walked through the dark passage yet again, you found your ears twitching at the slightest noise and your tail lashing around as though nervous itself. Your tail's fur began to stand on end as you came upon the coffin yet again. This was it. Not wanting to further the danger, you quickly threw off the top of the coffin. There lay the decaying body of who you knew to have once been Argus Traz but the widened pelvis bone and continuation of the spine into a tail indicated his fate well enough. You were then quite alarmed to look at see the crown wasn't present like your picture would have indicated. But where could it have gone? Did somebody find it? Just as you were ready to panic at the though, a rumbling sound to your side caught your attention. As though in response to your concerns, a section of the wall slid to the side, revealing a new passage. Slowly, you walked into the darkness with only guesses as to what awaited you. As the passage opened up into another room, torches alongside the walls suddenly lit up on their own, illuminating the whole room. Unlike the ruins outside, this room was completely clean and new looking. Just before you could really take it in, a voice that seemed to come from everywhere spoke.

"Welcome, I knew you would return, return for what is rightfully yours."

That was when a beam of light shone from the ceiling, spotlighting the the altar in the middle of the room where a carved statue of a cat with outstretched paws bore the crown in them.

"Don't be frightened. What you see before you is a relic left by a cat goddess from a pantheon that fell long ago when your world was still young. Unwilling to be forgotten, she imbued this crown with a fraction of her own essence in hopes that one worthy to call herself queen would don it and return her race to it's former glory. You left without the crown and so the transformation was stalled but you have already begun the process nonetheless. You see them out there, they live knowing only comfort and pleasure but await their queen to lead them. You have been chosen and now it is time to claim what is yours."

You stepped up and looked at the crown hesitantly.

"You intended to destroy it, but that is only because you feared what you did not understand. With this crown, the world shall be united under your rule and all the strife and partisanship that has poisoned it for so long shall be cured. Take it! Take it and all this and more can be yours! You know it is so! You know it in your heart! Crown yourself queen and lead your people to a better world!"

The voice went silent as it left you to decide. Was it so simple? Was this curse a blessing in disguise? Even if you were to destroy it, you still don't know what the result would be if anything. But...by donning it, would it be happiness or ignorance you would grant the world?

You had to decide, the ultimate risk or the ultimate prize...

*********************

A slight interjection here, this was the final choice left open to the board.  Some picked one, some picked the other so I wrote up both versions and they are...

EVIL ENDING

You picked up the crown and gazed at it's radiance...seeing your reflected eyes narrow with lust and desire...

Lise and Mark came running into the room, having managed to sneak past the hordes outside.

"Did you find it?" Mark asked as they found you standing with your back to you.

"Is it..." Lise began when you turned around, revealing the crown upon your head and your eyes glowing faintly from it's divine power.

"No! You can't! We're...your..." Lise said as fell to her knees clutching her sides.

"Wait! Don't do this man! This isn't you....urgh..." Mark followed suit as the throbbing inside him overpowered him as well.

You smiled and made a soothing purring sound as though to reassure them everything would be all right. As their bodies swelled into more feminine forms with their ears and tails quickly appearing, that was when it dawned on you. The purring...no longer just an eerie noise, you understood it now! It was the language of your people.

...................................

By this time, all the cat girls in the city had gathered to watch as you emerged, your friends at your sides as they had always been. All of them looked up at you in awe as they eagerly awaited your first command.

"S...so....what is yourrr command...my Queen?" Lise asked.

"Whateverrr you need...you can always count on meeeeow," Mark put in.

And thus the Queen of the cat girls began her reign. Against a world that had long forgotten magic, she faced little opposition. Some resisted, some accepted but in time, the end of humanity was inevitable now...

GOOD ENDING

You picked up the crown and gazed at it's radiance...seeing your eyes scowl with disdain...

Giving it not another thought, you smashed the front against the altar, causing the gems to shatter as the crown's magical energies surged from it uncontrollably.

Lise and Mark came running into the room only to have you run out and grab them as you went back to dive to the ground to shelter yourselves from the wave. As the wave passed by, all was left calm afterwards. You looked down at yourself only to be greeted by the same female form as before. Was your gesture all for nothing? Desperate to know the truth, to know if you had done the right thing, you wandered outside to be greeted to the sight catgirls yet again only now their looked around confused, their eyes once again shining with awareness and intelligence. It seemed you had a lot of explaining to do...

................................

The city was in strife for a time but once it was confirmed that there was no further danger of spreading the curse, fears were relaxed and everyone did their best to try and make the best of the situation. But the city would never be the same again. Word traveled quickly about a city of beautiful cat girls and the city was quickly transformed into a tourist paradise that made the city very wealthy indeed.

"Welcome to Hotel Neko! The best in town!" that cat girl bellhops said cheerfully to the family that had just walked into the door. You watched from behind the counter as you got ready to check them in. You reaped much of the benefits of the town's new found fame. After all, it was your idea in a way.

And thus life continued, it was busy and it took time to get used to but everyone was happy. You kept busy, you met many interesting people but best of all, you could afford only the very finest catnip money could buy!

The End
Ah cat girls! I do it all for you my lovelies! <3

One of the joys of being a writer is the ever present opportunity to be silly. This is blantant self fulfilling fantasy on my part I admit but damned if it wasn't fun to write. So fun that now I'm doing another one. Stay tuned for it!
